Database, Maps and Publication Credits

The Tennessee Vascular Plant occurrence database and Fungus collections database are developed by Dr. Q. Victor Ma. The original plant occurrence database was based on:

  1. Atlas of Tennessee Vascular Plants Volume I by Dr. Edward W. Chester, B. Eugene Wofford, and Robert Kral, Hal R. Deselm, and A. Murray Evans, 1993.
  2. Atlas of Tennessee Vascular Plants Volume II by Dr. E.W. Chester, B.E. Wofford, and R. Kral, 1997.
  3. Checklist of the Vascular Plants of Tennessee by Dr. B.E. Wofford and R. Kral, 1993.
  4. Tennessee Rare Vascular Plant List by Tennessee Natural Heritage Program (June 2001). Fungus Collections Database entries are by Dr. Ronald H. Petersen and his graduate students.

The Bryophytes herbarium database was originally written on dBase and converted to the Microsoft Access application by Dr. David K. Smith and Dr. Ken McFarland.

Online database SQL programming and scripting was created by John Ma from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department. The database web format, design, and layout was produced by Q.Victor Ma.

Distribution maps were created by former student Teresa Lange and other graduate students. County diversity map was created by former student Greg Schmidt.
